More and More...

I'm thinking little man knows *way* more than we could even imagine.

This morning, I heard him run to the back door. JT always runs outside, and I had locked it since he didn't have any pants on and it's cool in the mornings.

He turned the knob, and I heard him start squeaking. Then, clear as a bell, I heard, "Oh no. It's locked."

HUH?

Apparently language is really, really clicking!!

Modeling

At a fashion show at daddy's store last weekend:

Audrey the Model

Here are a few pics from a fashion show Audrey did at her daddy's store this past Saturday. She had to go first across the catwalk (her demand), and instead of turning around 1/2 way down the 40 ft stage (like most kids do because they get nervous), she walked all the way to the "T" at the end, struck a pose on one side, moved to the other, struck another pose, moved back to the middle of the T, struck another pose... then daddy suggested she should go back - and she smiled and strutted back. DIVA!!! (but a very, very cute one)

Go, Buddy!

JT is singing more... Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes is his new song. He does the hand motions, and just last night he pinned Audrey on the floor and sang it while touching her 'head, shoulders, knees and toes'. They both thought it was hilarious! He imitates the songs that Audrey makes up, and loves a book we have that is songs. He sings them later :)

My personal favorite song right now is 'Peepee in the potty'. I'm hoping he starts doing THOSE actions as well!

He's talking a ton - mostly asking for 'popsicle' and 'pudding'. It is so cute!

He also shows us what he wants. He kept asking for pudding, and when I didn't get it (we ran out!) he got a spoon and pretended to eat while telling me 'pudding'. (The Hubs bought some on the way home!). He got the chicken nuggets out of the fridge last night and brought them to me, saying 'chick' (-en).

He tells us 'happy' and 'sad' appropriately. Last night he was 'sad', then he snuggled up with me and after a minute, he said 'happy'. SO cute!

Saturday, he was sitting on my lap, and he said 'booboo'. Since he was sitting on me, I knew he hadn't just hurt himself, but he was pointing at his foot and trying to show me, so I looked. Sure enough, he had a splinter that must have been there about a day, because it was getting red. It was big enough that I just popped it out by pushing. He squeaked while I was getting it out, but right after I let go, he pushed on it and noticed that it wasn't painful. He started giggling, imitated what I did, and (in a very strained voice, haha) said 'PPPUUUUSSSSHHH'. I think he was glad to have that (big, bad) sucker out!

Lots of cool stuff!

Zhu Zhu Pet

This is the Zhu Zhu pet my mom is going to buy me this Thursday. I've been helping her a lot since she got home to earn it.

To Infinity...

... and beyond!

(If I say the first part, JT finishes with 'and beyond').

SO cute!!!

Happy Moments...

Audrey likes to read, and JT likes to listen to her read.

Perfect!

Sweet Boy

JT is being so sweet since I've been home. He always surprises us in a good way when we're facing a new situation that requires more from him.

He came in to see me while I was in the pre-op holding area. My doctor came back to chat one last time, and JT tried to push him away, told him to 'get back'. It was pretty funny - he protects his momma!

Singing

JT loves to sing!

He's been singing the A-B-C's for a long time. Now he's added two more - Wheels on the Bus and the Itsy Bitsy Spider. He even does the hand movements!

SO cute!!!

Surgery

My ankle arthroscopy is all done! I'm in my splint, which they will replace with a hard cast at my post-op appointment next week. Then the hard cast stays for 3 weeks.

Surgery went well as far as I know. The Hubs had JT out in the car, so my surgeon didn't get a chance to talk to him. He handed me two sheets of pictures (8 pics per page) of the inside of my ankle (the arthroscopy camera's view) and said that we'd discuss the pics at my appointment next week. It looks like he may have been right about the cartilage or something. Whatever it was, I'm certain he cleaned it up. Yay for being done!

The Hubs is being so sweet. He took off Wednesday, worked a little while yesterday, and a half day today. He's off all weekend. :)

I am so thankful for a wonderful friend taking my kids to school this morning. The Hubs's new director of stores (his boss' boss) was in town, and being that The Hubs had never met him, he couldn't exactly be late to their first meeting. She took both JT and Audrey to school. So very sweet.

Audrey and JT are both being really sweet and gentle. They think my crutches are toys (hey, they DO look like fun when you don't have to use them in all fairness), but they bring them back after a minute or two.

I'm getting used to the crutches and hopping. They're much harder than they look!

Hope everyone is doing well... I'm off to continue sleeping. I am flat out exhausted! I think it's my body telling me to take it easy (yesterday I ignored it and tried to ride with The Hubs to take the kids to school. Let's just say it was a good thing there was a plastic bag in the car... YUCK).

Cool Stuff...

Happy update time :)

JT
JT is talking. A LOT. He's asking for things he wants (mostly milk and popcorn, haha). But doing SO well. He's socializing with other kids at school. Pulling his mat up to play with them and really having fun! He's riding his scooter. Big deal!

Audrey
Audrey is reading!!! She read us two books last night. She's tying her shoes! She knows more Spanish than I can keep up with... I really need to get moving on learning to speak Spanish. I have no clue what's she's saying/singing. She's good at math. She's AMAZING at art. She wants to take swim lessons, and we've agreed to let her join a swim team if she's good enough. If not, we'll just continue lessons until fall when she can join that season. We may do dance as well this fall... we've been holding out because of her listening 'issues', but she got the memo finally and is toning it down when it's not appropriate.

The Hubs
His store is doing well. He's doing well. He did break his toe (he ran into a wall...), but it hurts him less and less each day (unless he does what he did last night, which is jump over the couch and stub it).

Me
Surgery in 4 days... 3 months of recovery. Writing is going really well. Started studying for the GRE... still planning to go back to school to get my Master's in Special Education (in the fall of 2011). Want plenty of time to get scholarships...

There you have it... Duzan family updates!

Dentist

Audrey got 2 fillings yesterday - and she did AWESOME. They were astounded with how great she did...

Here's a pic of her getting the laughing gas :) Such a sweetheart!

Heart

There's a little boy in Audrey's class that's not very nice to her. In all fairness, Audrey was best friends with him at the beginning of the year, and now she's best really close with another little boy - even though she likes everyone and calls them best friends.

He alternates between being her friend one day and telling her he's not her friend the next. She gets her feelings hurt when he decides not to be her friend - it makes her so sad.

So, yesterday, she came in the kitchen, and said, "Mom, I think I know what's wrong with *my friend*. I think his heart's too small."

LOL - yep. Definitely.

Wow :)

JT played with his sister this weekend... really played with her.

They sat down and were building with blocks, and he was telling her about the 'castle' and 'tower' and showing her where to put everything.

Audrey had the happiest look on her face. It was the sweetest moment.

I can tie my shoes!

Audrey has figured out how to tie her shoes *all by herself*! She is SO proud.

The Hubs finally sat down with her and she learned in about 30 minutes. Now she goes around tying all our shoes... which means we have to untie them because she ties them so tight!

Yay Audrey!!!

Crazy!!!

That's JT's new word :-)

It sounds sort of like 'cwaywee' - and he does it with this head shake/hand shake thing that is hysterical!

He has an awesome sense of humor, silly JT!
